14th Annual Lafayette Quaker Oatmeal Festival
The 14th Annual Lafayette Quaker Oatmeal Festival comes at the perfect time, in the beginning of the new year, when we all are rethinking our dietary and fitness regimes. The festival is this Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. throughout Lafayette. The festival includes an oatmeal breakfast, 5K walk/run, health fair, oatmeal-baking contest and the Oatmeal Creation Challenge.
Register for the 5K between 7:30 and 9 a.m. The oatmeal breakfast, which will be served from 7:30 to 12:30 p.m., includes a bowl of oatmeal, pancakes, muffins, and the largest oatmeal topping bar in the nation. It will be at Pioneer Elementary School, 101 E. Baseline Rd. It’s recommended that you go between 7:30 and 9:30 a.m. to avoid long lines. The health fair, from 8 a.m. to noon, will be at Bob L. Burger Rec. Center, 111 W. Baseline Rd. where there will be health screenings and interactive stations. The 5K walk/run starts at 9:30 a.m. at Rocky Mountain Center for Musical Arts, 200 E. Baseline Rd.
If you’d like to participate in the oatmeal-baking contest, drop off your entries at Pioneer Elementary’s atrium between 8 and 9 a.m.
