About the chef
Rob Green, executive chef for the Mountain Sun Pub family, was raised in Memphis, Tenn., where he was exposed to a long history of regional cooking that helped shape his culinary future.
He learned at a young age, whether it was from family at meal time or strangers at the Memphis in May Bar-B-Que Festival, that food brings people together. He took his first cooking job, after moving to Boulder, at Masala’s Creek Side Vegetarian Café. It was here he learned the energy you put into the food is a larger part of people’s dining experience.
After leaving Masala’s, Rob spent two years working at the Mountain Sun Pub, and moved to Denver to begin his professional culinary studies at the Art Institute of Colorado. While going to school he worked under Radek Cerney and his pastry chef Ginger Reynolds. During this time he also rolled Sushi at Tommy Tsunami’s. After working for Radek and Tommy Tsunamis for three years he moved to Portland, Oregon to help open Florio Bakery and then worked at Ken’s Artisan bakery for two years learning how to make true artisan breads.
Ken’s Artisan Bakery is where he met Rollie Wessen and Claudine Pepin. He joined this culinary team and worked as sous chef of The Avalon Hotel & Spa. From there he moved to Colorado Springs where he helped with the opening of Summit Restaurant at the 5 star/5 diamond Broadmoor Hotel as the sous chef and pastry chef. This ultimately brought him back to Denver as the executive chef of Rock Bottom at Park Meadows. His travels brought him full circle, and now he is back with the Mountain Sun family.
The driving force behind behind Chef Green is his beautiful wife Michele, a fellow chef, and his two sons, Noah and Isaac.
